Without a solid technical foundation, it is difficult for singers to feel comfortable expressing themselves through song. Prioritizing the artistry of the musical language is unfortunately lost in struggles of pitch accuracy, vocal efficiency and just “sounding good.” This challenge yields a common result: singers all-too-often come across as “robotic, emotionless, unexpressive…” More importantly, the English language itself is lost in a sea of utterance-over-communication. In this informative masterclass, Patrick Michael Wickham and Aaron Cafaro will talk about how to manipulate the four fundamental properties of sound to create depth and poignancy in your performance without sacrificing technique or efficiency. Pre-selected singers will use excepts from their current repertoire as demonstrations on how to bend, alter and enhance the music and overall artistry of their performances
